Runners of every level should make a trip down to Marietta for a historical tour led by Kristin Meeks. A life-long resident of the Mid-Ohio Valley, Meeks has been running for five years and has been teaching running classes for the past three years. She has completed 15 half marathons and one full marathon.

An avid runner, Meeks runs everywhere, even on vacation. A recent visit to Washington D.C. inspired Meeks to bring historical tours and running together to offer a unique way to see the sights. “After taking a running tour in D.C., I truly realized that Marietta would be a great place to offer this service,” said Meeks. With all the beautiful history and the breathtaking running trails along the river, Meeks decided to start leading running tours through Marietta herself.

Marietta Running Tours started in 2011 as a brainstorming idea between Meeks, who owns Neighborhood Workouts, LLC, and the Marietta/Washington County CVB.

Meeks offers personalized running tours, set at the pace of the individual or individuals running, and typically does a three mile tour highlighting Marietta’s historical background. “The tour can be slowed to meet anyone’s pace,” said Meeks. “Walking and taking pictures is encouraged.”

Individual tours from $10-$30 can be scheduled seven days a week by calling (304) 834-0764 or by emailing info@mariettaohrunningtours.com. Monthly group tours start this summer. “This year we plan to be a part of the Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival August 9th-12th,” said Meeks. The event celebrates outdoor adventures of all kinds including running, biking, and even paddling.
