O'Chocolate Where Art Thou
Athens is home to many eclectic, one-of-a-kind restaurants. But when looking for a superb desert, the best isn’t found at a sit-down venue. Stacy Peters started her business, O’Chocolate at 5 N. Court St. in 2010 and has had chocolate lovers flocking to her booth ever since.
Keeping with the Athens vibe, Peters uses fair trade ingredients and all-organic chocolate. Peters also uses Athens-based ingredients and partners with local businesses, like Snowville Creamery.

“I began O'Chocolate by committing to Certified Fair Trade/Organic chocolate and designing fresh truffles and gourmet chocolate bars around local ingredients,” says Peters.
Before even opening O’Chocolate, Peters knew all of her chocolates, truffles and treats were going to be organic.
“Fair Trade certifies that cacao farmers get a fair wage for their hard work,” Peter says. “Organic standards of farming ensure many health, environmental and social benefits to growers and consumers.”
Not only does O’Chocolate offer fair trade/organic treats, there are vegan truffles as well. The champagne truffle and citrus pecan truffle are made vegan, as well as every truffle can be made vegan if given two weeks notice. Peters made her vegan line for those who have allergies or go vegan for health reasons — but can still partake in the occasional treat.

“Naturally, dark chocolate is vegan so all of our dark chocolate bars are vegan,” Peter says.
With distinct truffle flavors like lavender, red wine, espresso and whiskey caramel and noteworthy chocolate bar flavors like hazelnut crisp and dark chocolate orange, O’Chocolate has all dessert fans wanting to indulge.
O’Chocolate is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11-6. They accept cash, credit cards and checks. Samples are available every work day from noon-1.
